A note from Miss Neidlinger, School principal...

St. Maria Goretti School

Dear Parent,

We appreciate your interest in St. Maria Goretti School. We sincerely look forward to having your children become part of the SMG educational experience and to provide for their academic and spiritual future. Although there may be a waiting list to enter SMG for your child, we pray that your son or daughter will have the opportunity to join us in the not too distant future.

In the past year SMG’s academic scores have been very high and exceed schools not only statewide but also in our local area. We are very proud of the quality of Catholic Christian education we provide at SMG, and we continue to rely on the goodness of our Heavenly Father to provide for our school.

I look forward to meeting you in the future and welcoming you personally to our family. It is my sincere hope that God will continue to bless and guide your family in all things.

In Jesus’ Most Holy Name,
Rebecca Neidlinger

School Admission: Registration & Regular Participation

To be admitted to St. Maria Goretti (SMG) School a family must be registered at SMG as a parishioner and attend Sunday Mass and holy days of obligation on a regular basis. A family can register at SMG only after it acquires a local mailing address in the area. Registration can be taken after weekend Masses.

Attendance at Mass is tracked through the submission of Sunday contribution envelopes. Following registration with the Parish, school registration may take place during regular school hours at the school office. Please contact the school administrator at 896-5582 once you have completed registration in the parish.

Waiting List

In situations where there are more applications for admission than there is room available in a given class, the following priorities will be used to determine those who are admitted:

1. First priority is given to students already enrolled or continuing to the next grade level;

2. If there is room remaining after admitting children from the prior grade level, then priority will be given to those children whose families have been registered in the parish for more than 12 months prior to the school registration time (usually in late winter of the prior school year), and who already have children registered and attending school.

3. If there is room left, the next priority will be given to those children whose families have been registered in the parish for more than 12 months prior to school registration time, who do not have children already registered and attending the school.

The school office will maintain the records and waiting lists that may be needed to administer this policy. At the time registration begins for a new school year, students who are already on the waiting list for a grade will automatically be given first priority on the waiting list for the next grade, if the family re-registers the student within 30 days of the beginning of registration. The school office will try to contact such families to make sure the family desires to have their child admitted to the school.

The school principal will have the final decision on any admission matters, whether or not covered by this policy.

Notes:

A school family is defined as having a current student in SMG or having had an 8th grade graduate of SMG while the family has remained a continuous, active member of the parish.

The earliest a child may register for Kindergarten is the February prior to being 5 years old by June 1st unless the child is a sibling of a current SMG student. If you have any questions concerning school enrollment, priority lists or waiting lists, please contact the school administrator at 896-5582.

School Fees & Policies

Currently St. Maria Goretti school is a tithing school and does not require tuition. As a tithing school parents are expected to tithe 10% of their annual gross income to the Church. This tithe obligation is the same that is required of all Catholics in the universal Church whether or not a school ministry exists. All SMG families are asked to remain faithful to their tithe obligation.

Book fees depend on the needs of the individual grade of the child. Generally, book fees are an estimated $350.00 per year per child but this amount can be more or less. Book fees are paid at the beginning of the school year on a designated date and must be paid in full before admission to the school is permitted. Additional fees for field trips, yearbooks, pictures, and other various activities are separate from book fees and will be collected at the time of need.

Uniforms

Uniforms are required at SMG and available through Schoolbelles. At catalogue is available in the school office. There are different styles of uniforms available for boys and girls. The prices also vary. Prices range from $5.00 to $30.00.

Service Hours

School family parents must provide a minimum number of service hours. At present the service hours required are 30.

Other Requirements

All school families must attend Mass regularly and must adhere to all policies and guidelines set forth by the school, including but not limited to the Family Policy Guide.

Thank you for your interest in our school!
