Dear Brothers and Sisters in
Christ,
As you receive this letter,
we are in our final days of 2009. The year and the decade are
quickly coming to a close. What a year, and even more, what a
decade, it has been for all of us! We have so much to be
grateful for! As you consider your final tithe of the year and
complete your charitable giving for 2009, I would ask that you
please remember your Parish family in your giving. These are
the days for us to make our final gifts to count towards our
2009 taxes. Help us to continue paying down our debt and keep
St. Maria Goretti financially strong and secure.
2010 will mark the tenth
anniversary of our becoming an independent parish family (on
August 15th, 2000). We’ve got a big year ahead! Fr.
Claudio is returning to St. Maria Goretti for another awesome
Parish Lenten Mission in March. One of St. Maria Goretti’s
largest-ever RCIA classes will be Baptized and received into
Full Communion with us at the 2010 Easter vigil, coming up on
April 3rd. Josh Bennett, St. Maria Goretti’s own
seminarian, will be ordained to the transitional diaconate for
our Diocese on June 5th of this year. Fr. Dale will
celebrate 20 years of priesthood on August 24th.
With help from the Lilly Endowment, I will begin my sabbatical
in Assisi at the end of August and the entire Parish will get
the opportunity to learn about the simplicity of Franciscan
spirituality and way of life, and how it can be of value to all
of us in our modern lives. We also look forward to getting
another priest in the summer of this year. It’s going to be a
great year, full of possibilities and growth. We look forward
to having each of you with us for all that God has in store for
us in 2010!
To keep the good things
happening and to continue to support our Parish, all of us will
have to continue to tithe and make our sacrifices. Our tithe is
our Faith in action. It is our chance to give back to God. And
what we give to God continues to accomplish incredible things
here at St. Maria Goretti. We have a come a long way. And yet,
God has so much more in store for all of us. These are exciting
days! Please do your part to help us to keep growing. Your
first envelopes of 2010 are included with this letter. Please
use them with Faith and generosity! Let’s have an awesome year
– together and with our Lord!
May God bless you and
yours in 2010!
In Christ,
Fr. Kevin |
