We hear a lot
today about security. We live in a world of identity theft, and
random violence, and terrorist attacks. So it’s no wonder that we
spend so much time, and energy, and money on trying to keep our
things and ourselves safe. Ask yourself today how many passwords,
and keys, and codes do you have to keep you, and your information,
and your family safe? And does it work? Don’t we still feel pretty
much at risk in the dangerous world that we live in? Security is an
illusion. Our real security needs to be first and foremost in the
Lord
Today Jesus is really asking
us, what we are doing to protect our marriages and our families?
It’s no secret that the institution of marriage and the traditional
family are under attack. Today, if you’re not protecting your
marriage and your family, you can end up losing what’s most
important. That’s what Jesus is really talking about today. How
many times do we put other things before our marriage and our
family?
How many times do we take for
granted the people who love us most? How many times do we fall into
that selfishness of the world, that is so destructive to marriages
and families? It is as though God is saying to us today, “You
want to protect something important?” Then forget about money, and
jewelry, and art treasures, what we really need to be protecting is
our marriages and families.” Think about that on this beautiful
Sunday.
Today, we continue to strive
and protect our Parish family, with our “As A Family…We Build God’s
Kingdom” Campaign. This is our first weekend of pledges. We’ll be
doing that right after Mass this morning. At this time, we’ve
invited Bill and Marilyn Sultan here this morning, to give our lay
witness for our campaign. My brothers and sisters, please join me
in welcoming, Bill and Marilyn Sultan…
