What is it
that makes this life worth living? What is it that God is most
going to want to talk to us about, after we get finished with our
time in this world? The answer to both of those questions is the
same thing: our service. Our service of others is what gives value
to our lives in this world. And our service is also going to be
what God is most interested in, when our time in this world is
over. Today in our Gospel, we hear that Jesus is the “Suffering
Servant”, and as Christ has done, so are we to do, while we are in
this world. What is it going to take for us to realize that it’s
NOT about our passions, or our desires, or even our distractions.
God wants something much more from each of us. He wants us to get
out of ourselves, and to care more about others. We are to serve
and care for others, with more passion, with more enthusiasm, and
with more love than what we do for ourselves. And the irony is that
that is the secret of a happy life. It’s not our toys, it’s not our
money, it’s not our popularity. It’s our service that will give us
the ultimate happiness. Think about that today.
We have
our Fruitful Harvest 2006 and “As a Family We Build God’s Kingdom”
Campaign Informational Meetings today after Mass. Again, we are
asking at least one person from each of our registered households to
attend one of these meetings this weekend. These meetings will help
all of us learn how we can be better servants/ stewards of the Lord
here at St. Maria Goretti. We expect to see all of you in the gym
after Mass. Thanks for your cooperation.
May God
bless us this weekend, Father, Son, and Holy
Spirit… AMEN !!!
