The Baptism of The Lord
Today we celebrate the Baptism of Jesus. At
Jesus’ birth, Mary showed Jesus to the world as her son. At
Jesus’ baptism, God the Father showed Jesus to the world as His
Son, the Son of God.
When Jesus was baptized, the sky opened up, and
the Holy Spirit appeared like a dove and God the Father stated,
“This is my Beloved Son” Matthew 3:16-17.
At our own baptism, we claimed God as our father
and He claimed us as beloved children. This is a good time to
talk about your child’s baptism with him/her. Discuss your
feelings of their joining the family of God. Show them pictures.
You may even want to celebrate their “birthday” into the family
of God each year on their baptism day!
This Week’s RCIA Topic
The RCIA topic for Monday, January 11 is The New
Testament. All adults of the parish are invited to attend any
week of RCIA to learn more about our faith. RCIA meets in the
Parish Office Narthex from 7-9 PM.
